Food Bank Donation this week

After weeks and weeks of incredible deals at Shoprite, there wasn't much bargain hunting for the Red Cross Food Bank there this week.  So instead I tried out Pathmark, which I read was having a special on cereal.

My $5 donation this week will give the Food Bank 12 boxes of cereal, 4 boxes of brownie mix, 6 cans of vegetables, taco shells and taco seasoning.  The cereal at regular price was close to $5 a box.  Do people actually pay that?!  Yikes!  Based on the pre-sale, pre-coupon prices, I figure this is about $70 worth of groceries.

All said, I still prefer my little Shoprite in Millburn for basics.  Can't wait for the Farmers' Market to open soon.

Seaview Resort and Spa

Spring has barely started and I'm already thinking about the Summer.  I was happy to find this deal at Jetsetter, a travel "groupon" style website, for the Seaview Resort and Spa in Galloway, N.J.  Right outside of Atlantic City, this hotel is a gracious setting with fabulous golf.  We've gone for a few years in a row, as have a couple of our friends.  It's an easy drive to Brigatine Beach and there are lots of other things to do as well.  Nightlife in Atlantic City, then back to your quieter, classier hotel.  They also have a nice spa, making this a good couples retreat.

Jetsetter is offering rates starting at $85 a night, which I think is  great price! Seems to be at least half off other rates I found online.  Click here to see the deal

Fresh Direct-- $50 of groceries for $25 for new customers

Groupon has this deal at Fresh Direct available again.  Get $50 worth of groceries for $25, for new customers only.  I did it last month and it worked quite well.  I thought the quality of the fish I had delivered was very good and we *loved* the blood oranges.  There was a small delivery charge.

5000 Hits

Oh-this is getting fun!  5000 page hits and growing.

Did you watch "The Killing" last night on AMC?  Sounds like "Mad Men"  won't start for quite awhile, so this show might have to fill the gap. Check it out--got rave reviews and was a substantial hit in Sweden and England.  Our version has been redone for the US, but still has a stoic female detective in a rainy, grey city (Seattle in this case).

I'm Back!

Back from my trip to DC, where it was cool and wet.  However, the Cherry Blossom trees were doing their best to cheer up the view!  Will be going again next weekend, so need to order some good DVDs from Netflix for the train ride.  Any suggestions of a chick flick to watch while I'm traveling alone?
